Chiropractic
Dr. Melissa Borsa D.C., B.P.H.E., B.A.
What is Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a natural drug free way to achieve optimal health and wellness. It is a division of health sciences that focuses on the neuromusculoskeletal system. Because the nervous system is the control centre of all body functions, it is important that it is functioning at its best. When the bodies biomechanics become altered, unwanted stress is placed on the spine and nervous system causing interference in the ability of spinal nerves to communicate with the body. This interference results in symptoms such as pain, muscle tightness, numbness/tingling, headaches, etc.
The Goal of Chiropractic Treatment
1. To correct biomechanical dysfunction in the joints and the soft tissues with spinal adjustments and soft tissue therapies
2. To create motion within restricted joint segments in order to increase range of motion and decrease nerve interference
2. To utilize physical therapy modalities (heat, ice, ultrasound, electrical current) to promote healing, reduce inflammation, and relax muscle spasm
3. To give rehabilitative exercises to assist in injury recovery and to prevent re-occurance of injuries and symptoms
4. To educate patients on the nature of injury, posture, exercise, lifestyle
